Recessed Can Coversion Kits

Do you have recessed cans over your kitchen island and wish that you could update the look by adding some mini pendants?

With "The Can Converter" by JBS Enterprises you can make that happen. The Can Converter will adapt almost any recessed can to work with other types of light fixtures or ceiling fans. You can modify can lights to hang a ceiling fan, ceiling light, chandelier, pendant light or just about any other type of light fixture in just minutes. The Can Converter will work with most standard types of recessed cans, including those by Juno lighting and Halo Lighting. These conversion kits are capable of holding a fixture up to 50 lbs., or a ceiling fan up to 35 lbs.

Before installing these you need to first make sure that you have the proper type recessed can.  The recessed can must be a new construction type can that is actually attached to the studs in your ceiling  If you have a remodel type recessed can that is supported only by sheet rock these conversion kits will not work.  If you're not sure what type of cans you have, please check out the FAQ page on "The Can Converter" website.

At Rensen House of Lights you can find "The Can Converter" as well as the pendants, mini pendants, chandeliers, ceiling fans and ceiling lights that you need to transform the look of any room in your home.

Benefits of a Ceiling Fan

Ceiling Fans, when used properly can save you money on your utility bills in both the winter and summer months. Most ceiling fans use only about as much power as a 100 watt light bulb.
In the warmer summer months you want to run your fan in the counter clockwise direction, blowing the air downward. A ceiling fan does not necessarily lower the temperature in the room, but does make the room feel cooler by providing a breeze. The circulation provided by a ceiling fan can make you feel up to 8 degrees cooler, allowing you to set your home thermostat at a higher setting and thus reducing your energy bill.
Ceiling fans can also help reduce your energy bill during the cold winter months. Since warm air is lighter than cool air you will find that in any room there are layers of air with varying temperatures, with the warmest air being near the ceiling. During these cold months you should run your ceiling fan in a clockwise direction at a slower speed. By doing this you will push that warmer air up against the ceiling and then down the walls of the room, creating recirculation of that warmer air without creating a chilling breeze.
This weekend, Rensen House of Lights is having a Pre-Season Fan Sale. We have a wide variety of fans on sale for both indoor and outdoor use at great savings. We have fans with lights starting at only $49. So hurry on in and get you fans before the hot weather arrives.

Are Incandescent Bulbs Really Going Away?

We had a customer in our store over the weekend who made a comment regarding incandescent light bulbs being banned. There is a lot of confusion about what will be happening regarding lights bulbs in the future. The Chicago Tribune had a good article explaining what will be happening starting at the beginning of next year. Read that article at http://www.chicagotribune.com/classified/realestate/home/sc-home-0221-lightblubs-20110221,0,4911621.story
